Janet JohnsonJanet Johnson, Registered Dental Assistant

Having grown up in Cayucos, I am a native of San Luis Obispo County. I graduated from Coast Joint Union High School in 1976 and from the Dental Assistant program at Pasadena City College in 1978. A year later, I earned an Associate of Science degree from Cuesta College. I have been a dental assistant in Dr. Dassenko's office since 1995. During that time, I also decided to go back to college and received a degree in Hospitality Management in 2007. In addition to being a Registered Dental Assistant (a state-level qualification) and a Certified Dental Assistant (a national qualification), I have completed certification in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists' Auxilliaries program and have taken part in numerous aesthetic dentistry training programs.

My husband and I have two sons who are both in college. I enjoy riding my horse, raising purebred Angus cattle, serving as a docent at Mission San Luis Obispo, and ringing the bell for the call to mass on Sundays.

Laurel NordykeLaurel Nordyke, Registered Dental Assistant

I was raised in the Santa Clarita Valley of Southern California and began my journey into the dental field in 1989, when I started to work in a South Florida dental office as both receptionist and dental assistant. After two years of this on-the-job training and a three-year stint in the Northwest and Canada, I returned to California and completed the dental assisting program at Central California School of Continuing Education in SLO, where I received my certificate and x-ray license. I began assisting full-time in 1995 and joined Dr. Dassenko's practice in 2007. I have earned my Coronal Polishing License and Registered Dental Assistant and have received additional training in Implantology and Alloderm grafting.

Away from the office, I like to sing and play the guitar; I have been a member of various worship bands in Florida, British Columbia, and California for twenty years. In addition, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and camping, hiking and otherwise enjoying the great outdoors. I also have a daughter who has been happily married for five years and just recently gave birth to my first grandchild!

Judy HouserJudy Houser, Scheduling Coordinator

After completing my dental assistant training and receiving my Associate of Science degree from Monterey Peninsula College in 1970, I worked as a receptionist and dental assistant for a general dentist in Morro Bay for 27 years, until his retirement. I have worked for Dr. Dassenko since September 2001, assisting in the front office with scheduling and clerical duties and helping in the back as the need arises.

My husband and I have been married for 39 years and have been blessed with a daughter and a son, both of whom are married. Spending time with my three granddaughters on the weekends is my passion, and I enjoy gardening, cooking and knitting whenever I can fit them into my busy life!

Anna BoeAnna Boe,
Office Manager

I grew up in a small town in northern Idaho and moved with my family to the “big city” of Spokane, Washington during my senior year in high school. I started my working career at the age of thirteen in the customer service industry. After graduating from high school, I worked for several years as a legal assistant, and then enrolled in college at the age of 21. Upon receiving a Liberal Arts degree from Spokane Community College in 2001, I applied for a job with Willamette Dental, and was hired as a front office representative. It was there that I fell in love with dentistry and knew I had found my niche. I stayed with Willamette Dental for five years and worked my way up into a management position. During my last year with Willamette Dental, I was given the opportunity to open a new office in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. At about the same time, I met and fell in love with my husband Tim. After our first child was born in Coeur d’Alene, we moved to the Central Coast of California in the fall of 2006, and I joined Dr. Dassenko’s office two years later.

My family and I absolutely love the Central Coast – we feel as though we’ve found paradise! SLO has the best weather in the world, and Tim and I enjoy spending time with our two daughters camping and exploring the outdoors, especially the beaches. At work, Dr. Dassenko is an amazing dentist and a wonderful employer, and I find the patients I get to know the most rewarding part of my job!

Andrea Lopez, Dental Hygiene Assistant

As the newest member of Dr. Dassenko’s team, I have been a dental assistant for two years and am currently working on my Registered Dental Assistant license. I want to further my knowledge of the dental field and hope to become a dental hygienist in the future. I graduated from Santa Maria High School in 2001 and attended Allan Hancock College, where I worked toward a degree in sociology.

My husband and I are thrilled to be expecting our first child this next year, and we look forward to living the "SLO life" in the Santa Maria valley with our growing family. I enjoy gardening, swimming, and hiking with my husband and our dog on the beautiful Central Coast. You might even spot me at our local farmer’s market or at the U-pick orchards.

Amy BiselyAmy Bisely, Registered Dental Hygienist

Although I have been practicing with Dr. Dassenko only since April 2008, I have pursued a career in dentistry for 31 years. I was trained on-the-job as a dental assistant in 1978 and went on to become a Registered Dental Assistant in 1980. Six years later, I earned my Associate of Arts degree and Registered Dental Hygienist license from Foothill College. My family and I left the Bay area and moved to the Central Coast in 2001.

I have two children in college, a son at UCSD and a daughter at UCLA. When I'm not working I enjoy family time, gardening, home improvement projects, cycling, travel, photography, and the company of my two dogs.

Becky-HawkinsBecky Hawkins, Registered Dental Hygienist

I grew up in northern California and have been working in the dental field since 1999. After earning my Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in 2002, I earned a Master's degree in International Public Health from Biola University. I have since been practicing dental hygiene in southern California and the Central Coast, and have done volunteer dental work in Mexico and Central America.

I enjoy cooking, letterpress printing, and going to the beach with my husband and daughter.
